Welcome to Wanderlass Travel Blog

Wanderlass blog began in 2007 as a mean to update my family and friends during my first solo trip to Europe. As our memory struggles against forgetting, this blog serves as a backup memory of my travels around the world. Please enjoy!

Top Things to do in Bandung City

I just came back from a dive trip in Indonesia and a friend asked if I was in Bandung. She wanted to know if it is worth a visit. Well, I have been in Bandung, although not recently. I visited Bandung in 2009 as part of a multi-city visit around Indonesia. Here are my...

notes on Boracay

This is the first time I've been to the "sunrise" part of Boracay, the Bulabog beach. On this side, luxury condotels and retirement/ vacation residents are sprouting left and right. I also got the chance to be shown around one of the splendid suites of 7stones...

Boracay interlude

Because I travel a lot, I'm happy to infect my mum with the travel bug. So this Boracay trip is not mine, it's my parents'. :) It's a shame though that their first visit is during the rainy August, when the whole beach was hidden behind tarpaulin wind breakers. Also...

Karma 101: Temple of Borobudur

I refused to leave Yogyakarta without seeing the Temple of Borobudur. We were supposed to see this yesterday but we lost track of time and the temple closes at 5pm. I ended up booking a flight to Bali instead of taking the land route via Bromo. I kind of regret that...

Pampanga Food Trip

Tour of the Glutton: Pampanga Food Trip As with most north bound trips, meet up is at our flat. We even had a movie night/sleep over to ensure that nobody will be late the next day. For the record, the 2 movies were Drag me to Hell and Temptation Island. Technically,...

The lass who wanders.

I travel the world on a quest to live a life not ordinary.

Come, wander with me!

This is my story

In the world that I wander in, one lives a fulfilling life when one follows a set path: excel as a student, secure a high-paying job, find a well to do, stable and kind partner, marry, have a million babies, and live happily ever after. For we were programmed (brainwashed?) with this narrative since childhood, it was naturally the "ever-after" I blindly sought.

However, life, with its enigmatic agenda, had other plans. Luckily, I woke up from this slumber somewhere along this journey. While my hands were never tied, my mind was shackled with unending sense of guilt and sea of inhibitions. I now understand it was my parents' way of being protective. But the moment the spell was broken, I began to see with a pair of new goggles, and I gasped for breath.

I unearthed the vastness of the world and the infinite possibilities life offers! I became different from the people around me. I’ve ignited latent passions and developed new verve for living. While part of me wishes that this revelation had come sooner, I am who I am because of who I was. I've always been a fast learner so I will catch up! This is my quest to live a life not ordinary!

It is not death that a man should fear. But he should fear never beginning to live.

– Marcus Aurelius
