Welcome to Wanderlass Travel Blog

Wanderlass blog began in 2007 as a mean to update my family and friends during my first solo trip to Europe. As our memory struggles against forgetting, this blog serves as a backup memory of my travels around the world. Please enjoy!

Chinese Shangri la

The journey from Shangri la to Deqin was suggested in the Lonely Planet China as the "road less traveled" (compared to Dali & Lijiang), but of course this made the route popular to foreign travelers. :) The name Shangri la is a fictional Himalayan paradise...

Bali bumming

BALI is the last installment of my trip to Indonesia. It's over a year too late this report, but here it is. =) Traveling non-stop for almost 2 weeks and dispirited by my just broken Canon G9 camera, beach bumming in Bali is a much needed R and R. Sometimes traveling...

Roadtrip with Mazda CX-7

"Anything Goes!" This was the theme of our road trip. And true enough, the 45 hours following our departure from my house was filled with the most random of events imaginable! Begining with this sunrise in Tarlac City.   We got lucky again. This time Mazda...

Catch a Fallen Star: COTS Harvest

When I received the WWF-Philippines invitation to Catch a Fallen Star, I replied "yes to all" in 0 second. More than the diving, I wanted to be part of the cause. Really. And I feel lucky to get one of the 15 much coveted slot. Catch a Fallen Star – COTS The crown of...

The lass who wanders.

I travel the world on a quest to live a life not ordinary.

Come, wander with me!

This is my story

In the world that I wander in, one lives a fulfilling life when one follows a set path: excel as a student, secure a high-paying job, find a well to do, stable and kind partner, marry, have a million babies, and live happily ever after. For we were programmed (brainwashed?) with this narrative since childhood, it was naturally the "ever-after" I blindly sought.

However, life, with its enigmatic agenda, had other plans. Luckily, I woke up from this slumber somewhere along this journey. While my hands were never tied, my mind was shackled with unending sense of guilt and sea of inhibitions. I now understand it was my parents' way of being protective. But the moment the spell was broken, I began to see with a pair of new goggles, and I gasped for breath.

I unearthed the vastness of the world and the infinite possibilities life offers! I became different from the people around me. I’ve ignited latent passions and developed new verve for living. While part of me wishes that this revelation had come sooner, I am who I am because of who I was. I've always been a fast learner so I will catch up! This is my quest to live a life not ordinary!

It is not death that a man should fear. But he should fear never beginning to live.

– Marcus Aurelius
