Welcome to Wanderlass Travel Blog

Wanderlass blog began in 2007 as a mean to update my family and friends during my first solo trip to Europe. As our memory struggles against forgetting, this blog serves as a backup memory of my travels around the world. Please enjoy!

The Amazon

The Amazon

The Amazon is as mystical to me as Asia is to the Westerners. Young people today would associate the name to the online mega shop. But when I was a kid, Amazon was this far-away land ruled by all women warriors, the Amazonas. It was this massive jungle where explorers particularly men mysteriously disappear, either eaten or made as slaves. To prove how exotic it was to us, when I told my family that I’m going to the Amazon, my sister made me promise to not get lost in the jungle.

Philippine Embassies and Consulates in the World

Ever needed a Philippine Embassy or Philippine Consulate while abroad? So you googled and it returned with 20 sites like www.allembassies.com, www.goabroad.com, or even www.pinoy-ofw.com that gave the same address. So you believe it. Why not? Here's why not. Feb 2,...

Lisbon Pocket Itinerary

Lisbon Pocket Itinerary

Travelling around Lisbon with limited time is not a good idea – the city provides plenty of view decks on its hilly location to enjoy vistas of the river and the sea, rich architectural heritage that will leave you gasping in awe for its highly crafted details, labyrinthine cobblestone alleys with houses decorated in tiles to get lost wandering in, and sumptuous pastries and sweets to indulge on.

The lass who wanders.

I travel the world on a quest to live a life not ordinary.

Come, wander with me!

This is my story

In the world that I wander in, one lives a fulfilling life when one follows a set path: excel as a student, secure a high-paying job, find a well to do, stable and kind partner, marry, have a million babies, and live happily ever after. For we were programmed (brainwashed?) with this narrative since childhood, it was naturally the "ever-after" I blindly sought.

However, life, with its enigmatic agenda, had other plans. Luckily, I woke up from this slumber somewhere along this journey. While my hands were never tied, my mind was shackled with unending sense of guilt and sea of inhibitions. I now understand it was my parents' way of being protective. But the moment the spell was broken, I began to see with a pair of new goggles, and I gasped for breath.

I unearthed the vastness of the world and the infinite possibilities life offers! I became different from the people around me. I’ve ignited latent passions and developed new verve for living. While part of me wishes that this revelation had come sooner, I am who I am because of who I was. I've always been a fast learner so I will catch up! This is my quest to live a life not ordinary!

It is not death that a man should fear. But he should fear never beginning to live.
