Welcome to Wanderlass Travel Blog

Wanderlass blog began in 2007 as a mean to update my family and friends during my first solo trip to Europe. As our memory struggles against forgetting, this blog serves as a backup memory of my travels around the world. Please enjoy!

Week 1 in South Africa – Joburg and Kruger

A week ago, holy that was quick! I wrote something in Durban hoping to sum up my 1 week in South Africa but ended up just writing about my one day in Durban. So I will just quickly now, give a wrap up of what went before that. A prequel actually to the previous post....

One week in South Africa – I am in Durban

So it's been 1 week since I got to South Africa. Actually a bit more if we want to be strict about it. 1 week in South Africa seemed like a long time but the truth is I felt like I've just been sitting on a bus the whole time! South Africa is so huge that it takes so...

Let’s Meet South Africa

Let’s meet South Africa. It was a totally random thing going on there. I’m in the process of hyperventilating because I cannot decide which camera lenses to bring.

Happy New Year 2014

Happy New Year! There, I did it before the year ends again. I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating the coming of 2014. As for me, I was with my family in Taipei over the New Year holidays. Here's a time-lapse video of the countdown fireworks at Taipei 101....

The lass who wanders.

I travel the world on a quest to live a life not ordinary.

Come, wander with me!

This is my story

In the world that I wander in, one lives a fulfilling life when one follows a set path: excel as a student, secure a high-paying job, find a well to do, stable and kind partner, marry, have a million babies, and live happily ever after. For we were programmed (brainwashed?) with this narrative since childhood, it was naturally the "ever-after" I blindly sought.

However, life, with its enigmatic agenda, had other plans. Luckily, I woke up from this slumber somewhere along this journey. While my hands were never tied, my mind was shackled with unending sense of guilt and sea of inhibitions. I now understand it was my parents' way of being protective. But the moment the spell was broken, I began to see with a pair of new goggles, and I gasped for breath.

I unearthed the vastness of the world and the infinite possibilities life offers! I became different from the people around me. I’ve ignited latent passions and developed new verve for living. While part of me wishes that this revelation had come sooner, I am who I am because of who I was. I've always been a fast learner so I will catch up! This is my quest to live a life not ordinary!

It is not death that a man should fear. But he should fear never beginning to live.
